- Click on "HWY & BR" to expand that menu.
- Select "Project" to expand that menu.
- Select "Overview/Cost".
- Type the MPMS # in the Project box and press the Enter key.
- Select the "Project Cost Summary" option under Cost Summary.
- Select "Obligated" from the tabs. A list of phases and dates appears.
- The Obligation Approval Date for Amendment 0 (i.e., the original) under the PE Phase Type is the date of first Federal Authorization for Preliminary Engineering.
Federal authorization has a ten year limit. If the environmental approval is not obtained within ten years from the date of authorization of federal funding, a time extension is required. The Date of Time Extension(s) in the System forms is listed in MPMS as an amendment to the Obligation Approval Date, which can be identified using the same steps listed above.
In some instances, a project may not have federal funding for Preliminary Engineering or Final Design but could have federal funding for construction. In these cases, Federal Authorization would be required for Construction. In these cases, it is advised that the Date of first Federal Authorization area read "pending for construction". Similarly, if there were funding/authorization for Final Design, this area should reflect that as "pending final design". If no federal funding is used for any phase of the project, this area should read "not applicable".
