Some forms require that you attach a file (for example, location map, detour map, concurrence letter, PNDI receipt, etc.). The system only allows the attachment of .pdf files.
Refer to the FAQ entitled "What are required attachments for packages?" for information on specific documents that must be attached. Any documents beyond those indicated as required attachments should be maintained in the project's technical file.
Attaching a File
Before attaching a file, you must have the document open in edit mode:
- Locate the Additional Information section.
- Click the Browse button beside the Path field to display the "choose file" dialog box.
- Click the file you want, and click Open to select it. The path and file name appear in the Path field.
- Click the Save button to save the file as an attachment to the document. The file appears in the Attachments list.
If an attachment that contains an invalid character in the name is uploaded, an error message is displayed when the Save button is clicked that states “One or more of the uploaded attachments contains invalid characters (#,´+ % & @?). Please re-upload all attachments after correcting this error.” All attachments will be removed and will need to be re-uploaded.
Invalid characters are:
pound sign (#)
comma (,)
apostrophe (‘)
plus sign (+)
percent sign (%)
ampersand (&)
at-sign (@)
question mark (?)
em-dash ( – )
Password protected/encrypted files should not be uploaded in the system, as they will cause errors when creating a PDF of the package.
Removing a File
Before removing a file, you must have the document open and in edit mode:
- Click the remove link next to the attachment name you want to delete. A dialog box appears, asking you to confirm that you want to remove the file.
- Click Yes to remove the file. The file disappears from the Attachments list.
NOTE: When you remove an attachment, you also save any changes you made to the rest of the document.
